Meridian
Federal capital · Mid-Atlantic islet · 30°N, 30°W
A small Atlantic island kept as neutral federal territory. Seat of the Federal Assembly, the Federal Court, and the Federal Translation Centre.
The federal islet
Meridian sits roughly halfway between the Americas and Europe on the 30th parallel, north-west of the Azores. The Republic holds the island as neutral federal territory — it belongs to no region, sends no Governor, and elects no Federal Council seats. Its municipal government is separate from the federal institutions that meet there.
A single main island roughly in the centre of the frame, with a modest N-S ridge of peaks and a natural harbour on the leeward (west) side. Two attendant islets sit to the south-east. The rest is open Atlantic ocean — neutral federal waters.
