The deep blue field represents the oceans connecting the four distributed regions, continuity across distance, diplomatic seriousness, and the permanence of institutional identity beyond territory. Unlike conventional flags tied to landmass symbolism, the Zandorian field signifies a networked civic space.
2 · The Four Meridian Bands
The four directional bands extending from the centre toward the cardinal axes represent the four continental regions of Zandoria, distributed sovereignty, convergent governance, and civic alignment across geography. Their restrained geometry intentionally avoids militaristic or expansionist interpretation — the bands symbolise coordination rather than conquest.
3 · The Convergence Compass
At the centre of the flag lies the Convergence Compass, the primary national emblem. It combines navigational geometry, civic convergence, and institutional orientation. The compass does not point outward toward expansion — it points inward toward coordination.

4 · The Circular Meridian Ring
The surrounding ring symbolises continuity, institutional resilience, cyclical civic renewal, and equal participation among regions. Its uninterrupted geometry reflects the constitutional doctrine that no single region forms the “centre” of the federation.
5 · The Central Star
The four-point internal star represents civic identity, shared legitimacy, and coordinated autonomy. It also signifies that the Republic exists simultaneously as a state, as an informational system, and as a voluntary civic network.
Design Philosophy
Institutional plausibility. The flag avoids fantasy heraldry, aggressive nationalism, overt technological symbolism, and ornamental complexity. It was designed to appear diplomatic, recognisable, credible, and timeless.
Coordination over territory. Traditional flags often represent ethnicity, monarchy, revolution, or territorial conquest. The Zandorian flag instead represents coordination, distributed governance, institutional continuity, and civic participation — a federation held together by systems rather than geography alone.
Future-classic aesthetic. The design language blends modern institutional minimalism, maritime navigational symbolism, senate-style geometry, and restrained transnational aesthetics. The result is intended to feel like an old republic from the future.
