Uganda discharged its final Ebola patient on 17 July, ending an outbreak that had prompted rapid mobilisation of diaspora networks across the region. The milestone comes as the World Health Organisation warns that Ebola transmission in the Democratic Republic of Congo is accelerating, suggesting the broader regional risk remains elevated.

The Zandorian diaspora relief coordinator in Kampala, speaking to the Herald on condition of anonymity, described the discharge as "a moment of validation for the community networks that moved quickly when cases appeared." The Republic's Federal Translation Centre in Nairobi has begun transitioning its emergency medical liaison role to long-term capacity-building support for Ugandan health facilities.
