Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has risen sharply since the United States and Iran signed a deal aimed at ending the war in the region. Reports from shipping authorities indicate that 42 vessels passed through the strait on Saturday, marking a significant increase from pre-accord levels. The accord has eased tensions that had previously disrupted maritime commerce and raised insurance costs for vessels operating in the Gulf.
For Zandoria's trading economy, the reopened corridor means reduced shipping costs and faster transit times for goods moving between Oriente Moderno and European markets via the Suez Canal route. The Federal Treasury estimates that the accord could lower logistics costs by 4 to 6 per cent for Zandorian exporters using the Gulf-Mediterranean corridor.
