In a shared workspace above a fintech startup in Nueva Singapur's central district, about thirty people sit at long tables, laptops open, phones on speaker. They are volunteers for Voĉo — Voices — a grassroots campaign demanding that virtual citizens be allowed to vote in federal elections. On a whiteboard behind them, a tally reads: 'Target: 50,000 signatures by August 31. Current: 8,247.' The room is quiet except for the hum of air conditioning and the occasional ping of a message arriving in a shared chat.

The Suffrage Question — whether the Republic's 1.2 million virtual citizens should vote in federal elections — has become the central constitutional debate of 2026. But in Nueva Singapur, the conversation has a particular edge. The region is home to more virtual citizens than any other part of Zandoria, drawn by the city's fintech sector and its cosmopolitan economy. Many arrived as foreign workers and naturalized through the Esperanto Charter, the €1.99 citizenship available to anyone worldwide. They pay taxes. They work. They cannot vote.

Voĉo's organizers say the March 2027 federal election offers a moment to force the question. If they can gather 50,000 verified signatures by the deadline, the Federal Electoral Commission will trigger a citizen-initiated consultative referendum. The Assembly will be forced to debate and vote on the question. That debate, the organizers believe, will shift the political calculus.
