Nord Europa Presses Meridian on Cultural Funding Allocation
Assembly committee questions whether federal grants favour larger regional capitals over smaller civic institutions

The Nord Europa Regional Assembly's Cultural Committee voted 7–4 on Thursday to request that the Federal Court's audit office examine the distribution of federal cultural grants over the past five years. The motion, tabled by committee chair Petra Novotná, argues that smaller municipalities in Nord Europa and rural districts in Tierra Verde have received proportionally fewer federal heritage restoration funds than the capital cities, despite having comparable preservation needs.
The request does not constitute a formal lawsuit or a constitutional challenge. It is a procedural petition asking the Federal Court's administrative arm to conduct a review and publish findings. The motion passed with support from both the ruling Partio de Unueco and the opposition Nord-Slovaka Bloko—a rare alignment that signals the committee's seriousness about the underlying concern.
"The question is not whether Meridian or Nueva Singapur deserve funding," Novotná said in a brief statement after the vote. "The question is whether the allocation formula is transparent and whether it reflects the actual distribution of heritage sites across the Republic. If it does not, we need to know." The Federal Cultural Affairs Ministry has not yet responded to the request.
