Cooperative Standoff Threatens Tierra Verde's Yerba Harvest

The Uni??n de Productores de Yerba Mate del Sur, a cooperative representing roughly 1,400 smallholder families across Tierra Verde's eastern canopy belt, voted on the evening of 19 May to suspend deliveries to the federal commodities exchange in Meridian. The decision followed the Ministry of Agricultural Commerce's confirmation of a revised floor-price formula that would reduce the cooperative's effective return per kilogram by an estimated 14 percent.
