The Oriente Moderno Regional Assembly voted 41 to 9 on Thursday to approve a ???340 million allocation for the expansion of the Nueva Singapuro Deepwater Port Complex. The funding will finance construction of a third berth cluster in the southern basin, a project that port authorities say will increase annual throughput capacity by an estimated 28 percent.

The vote ended three months of committee deliberation and follows a federal feasibility study commissioned by the Ministry of Federal Infrastructure in Meridiano last year. Guberniestro Amara Solis signed the enabling decree within hours of the assembly's decision, describing the project as a generational commitment to Oriente Moderno's role as the Republic's primary maritime gateway.
