Federal Council Approves Nord Europa Tech Corridor

The Federal Council in Meridian voted on the eighteenth of May to release a 340-million-crown infrastructure grant earmarked for the development of a contiguous technology corridor stretching four kilometres along Bratislava-Nova's eastern waterfront. The decision, passed by a margin of sixty-one votes to thirty-eight, ends two years of negotiation between the Nord Europa Regional Assembly and the federal Ministry of Economic Development.

The corridor, provisionally named the Havel Quay Innovation District, will consolidate the capital's existing but fragmented cluster of software firms, advanced-manufacturing workshops, and applied-research institutes into a single planned precinct. Regional planners have described the project as the most significant investment in Nord Europa's built environment since the reconstruction of the Old Bridge Quarter in the early 2000s.

The grant is structured in three tranches, with the first 90 million crowns available immediately for site preparation and utility upgrades. Construction on the first permanent buildings is expected to begin before the end of the current calendar year, though the full corridor is not projected to reach operational capacity until 2030. The scale of the ambition ??? and the conditions attached to federal money ??? has already prompted debate inside the Regional Assembly.
